Monkey Business

I'm an enthusiastic believer in the theory that everything is better with monkeys. They're cute, they're clever and we can learn a lot from them: They spend their time playing, eating, sleeping and making hot monkey love. No jobs, no schools and no wars; when they get pissed off, they just throw their own shit. Now someone's given them the tribute they deserve with 100 Poems About Monkeys, a limited-edition book that is being released tonight at 3 Kings Tavern, 60 South Broadway. The product of Gregory Hill, Andy Brzeczek and Merisa Bissinger, the book comes packaged with a CD of recordings of the poems — and a sweet-ass felt monkey puppet! There will also be monkey-themed art and karaoke to liven things up. Hill calls the event "a synthesis of Warhol, Kerouac, the Magnetic Fields and public masturbation."
